The library holds various events and programs throughout the year. Find out out more about our ongoing programs below:


Events and Programs


Children's events:
**March Break** activities will be Monday, March 12 to Friday March 16 at 1pm every day! Stay tuned for details.

Babytime for babies ages 0-12 months and their caregivers runs in 6-week sessions beginning in January, March, May, September and November. Call (613) 267-1224 to register.

Storytime for children ages 1-4 years and their caregivers runs in 6-week sessions beginning in January, March, May, September and November. Call (613) 267-1224 to register.

Playgroup: On Wednesday mornings during the school year, the Ontario Early Years Centre holds its Perth playgroup at the library from 10 a.m-12 p.m. Registration is required for library programs, but the playgroup is drop-in for ages 0-6. You do not have to attend both storytime and the playgroup. You are welcome to bring a snack to the playgroup, but no nut products, please. Owls Tutoring offers one-on-one reading and writing help for children in Kindergarten- Grade 6. Sessions run on Tuesdays during the school year from 3:30-4:30, 4:30-5:30 & 5:30-6:30p.m., starting October 10. Registration is required. There is no charge. Please call 613-267-1224 to register.

Read2gether is a family book club held the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Call 613-267-1224 to register.

PA Day - Board @ the Library! On PA Days throughout the school year, come play fun board games at the library featuring Twister, the game of LIFE and Chinese checkers! Drop-in from 1-3p.m.

Makerspace! Drop in with your family every Wednesday at 3 p.m. to design crafts, build with Lego, Megablocks or Magnetix, learn to code with Cubetto, try Squishy Circuits, Little Bits, & more!

Forest of Reading: Forest of Reading voting parties are held in April.



Teen events:
Dungeons & Dragons meets every Wednesday from 3-5p.m. Drop in and join us!

Open Media Lab time with mentor Gethyn is currently Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30p.m. Drop in and create!

Teen Book Club: The Teen Book Club meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m., with books chosen by group members. Sign up to get a copy of the book to read in advance of the meeting.

Craft-T-Tween: Come to the library to make some cool crafts! Second Wednesday of the month, 4-6pm, starting September 13. Register now at the library!


Adult events:
Computer Help: The library is here to support beginning technology users. One-on-one computer tutoring sessions are available by appointment only. Please call the library to book!

Open Knitting Group: An informal knitting group meets at the library the third Monday of each month from September to June from 1-3 p.m. Drop-in. No experience required. Bring your own knitting project.

ESL Conversation Group: Practice speaking English with this conversation group, meeting Tuesdays at 6:30pm. All skill levels, drop-in.

French Conversation Groups: Parlez-vous Francais? Practice your skills with these conversation groups. Beginner/Intermediate & Advanced, meeting Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:30pm. Registration required. Please call 613-267-1224 to see if spaces are available and to register.

Spanish Conversation Group: ¿habla español? Practice your skills with this conversation group, meeting Wednesdays at 6:30pm. All skill levels, drop-in.

Book Buzz: Meeting on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., this group discusses a wide range of titles. Call to get a copy of the book

Readalikes book club: This book club introduces you to lesser-known works that you'll love if you've read popular titles. First Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Sign up to get a copy of the book to read in advance.

Film Night International:
Film Night International continues with a great selection of foreign films. Proceeds support the Perth and Smiths Falls libraries. Screenings are Wednesdays at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. at the Full Circle Theatre. Limited tickets may be available at the door. Learn more.
