PERTH & LANARK COUNTY

  • Algonquin College Learning Resource Centre
    Algonquin College in Perth has a collection of building histories, local newspapers on microfilm, tax assessment rolls, and more.
  • Archives Lanark
    The county archives house material in a building in Drummond/North Elmsley Township and provide online access to indexes and other resources.
  • Lanark County GenWeb
    Part of the international GenWeb genealogy project, this site provides links to family history resources related to Lanark County.
  • Lanark County Genealogical Society
    Providing information about area genealogy, research services, and regular meetings.
  • Perth Courier historical files
    Digitized copies of the Perth Courier from its beginning in 1834 through the mid-1980s. This database also contains other newspapers from Ontario and around the world. Requires a password for access; contact the library for details.
  • Perth Historical Society
    The Perth Historical Society meets monthly to discuss items of historical interest and collects and publishes historical writings.
  • Perth Museum
    Housed in the Matheson House on Gore Street in Perth, the museum showcases recreations of 19th century life, photographs, and objects related to area history.
  • Perth & District Heritage Portal
    Online exhibits about the history of Perth and surrounding areas. A project of the Perth Museum, Perth & District Union Public Library, and the Algonquin College-Perth Learning Resource Centre.
  • Tay Valley Township
    Site for the municipality of Tay Valley Township, including information about historical projects.

    Resource for vital documents (birth, death, marriage) for the province of Ontario.
  • Canadian Genealogy Centre
    Library & Archives Canada's site for genealogy researchers, with digitized material and informaiton about how to obtain military and other historical records.
  • Early Canadiana
    Material related to the settlement and founding of Canada. This resource is only available in the library.
  • Library & Archives Canada
    The main Library & Archives Canada site.
  • Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid
    A searchable collection of names and information from Ontario cemeteries.
  • Ontario Genealogical Society
    The provincial genealogical society is the parent organization of many local groups and can identify where to find various documents.
  • Our Ontario
    A collection of digitized material from libraries and museums around the province.

INTERNATIONAL

  • Familysearch.org
    Site maintained by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains millions of freely accessible family history records.
  • Cyndi's List
    A major online collection of links to resources for family history spanning all backgrounds and nationalities
  • National Archives and Records Administration (US)
    The main US government archive for vital records and other historical documents.
