Ready for Reading
In the library’s baby time, toddler time and story and craft times we incorporate the six pre-reading skills outlined in the Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library (ECRR) program established by the American Library Association. These skills include:

Phonological Awareness - I HEAR WORDS!
Print Awareness - I SEE WORDS!
Print Motivation - I LIKE BOOKS!
 Vocabulary - I KNOW WORDS!
Narrative Skills - I CAN TELL A STORY!
Letter Knowledge - I KNOW LETTERS!
Adapted from the Toronto Public Library

These family programs offer a selection of age appropriate books, finger plays, songs, rhymes, puppets, felt board stories, circle time, or craft activities for older children. Parents are asked to participate in our sessions. Registration is required for all programs.
