Get a Library Card
Any resident of the town of Perth or the Townships of Drummond/North Elmsley and Tay Valley
is entitled to free membership at Perth & District Union Public Library. Summer residents who own property in the district also qualify.

To apply for membership, bring proof of identity and proof of residency to the library. Children under 14 accompanied by a parent may use that parent’s ID as proof of identity. See the library's membership and borrowing policies for more detail about acceptable forms of identification.

Special "Ready for Reading" library cards are available for children 0-6 years of age. Get your child his or her own library card to encourage a love of reading!

Non-Residents
All others may apply for a non-resident membership. The annual charge is $35 for adults and $15 for Algonquin College students. (Elementary and secondary school students who live outside the district but attend school in Perth qualify for free cards with proof of school enrollment.) The non-resident rate for a card valid only from June 1 to September 30 is $20.

Replacement Fees
The replacement fee for a lost card is $2. Learn more about our fines and replacements »

Knowledge is free at the library. Just bring your own container.
