I write this on the official last day of summer. What a summer it has been. Tons of uncertainty amid glorious weather and time with family. I was fortunate enough to be able to maintain an almost daily open water swimming practice. This weekend we took our community dock out of the water so I sadly may be done for the season. I had set myself a goal of swimming from Station Bay on Christie Lake to the Jordan’s cottage bridge in the early summer. I completed the 3.7 km swim on August 23rd and was thrilled. It was a beautiful sunny day and the lake was calm. My wonderful husband kayaked alongside me to make sure I was safe. It took about 2.5 hours. I was a little wobbly getting out of the water and super hungry!! I purchased a wetsuit with the hope of being able to swim until October but the freezing nighttime temperatures are making the water frigid. I hope to be back in the pool soon, until then dog walks will do.
