DESCRIPTION:Intergenerational Storytime – in partnership with Aspira Carolina Retirement Living \nThe Perth & District Union Public Library is excited to host: Intergenerational Storytime. This program will be offered on selected dates throughout thhe spring and summer and will be held in the main lobby of Aspira Carolina Retirement Living. Parents\, grandparents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their children and grandchildren to enjoy stories\, songs and rhymes with residents from the retirement community\, hosted by the library’s Children’s Librarian. This program is best suited for children ages 18 months – 5 years. \n“The idea of hosting a storytime outside of the library has been percolating for a while and when a community member suggested Aspira Carolina\, it seemed like a good fit. Seeing all ages come together for early literacy is wonderful – it should be an engaging experience for all!” – Heidi Taber \nThe program is free of charge and drop-ins are welcome (no registration required). SUMMARY:Sumo-bot Competition with STEAMPUNK Robotics Education Inc. Ages 9-13
DESCRIPTION:Try your hand at building a sumo-bot with Lego Spike sets and have some fun competing against other teams. Robot-sumo is a sport in which two robots attempt to push each other out of a circle (in a similar fashion to the sport of sumo).  Each team will have their own table with a Lego Spike kit\, a laptop and instructions to build and code a sumo-bot. Our awesome STEM programmer will be at hand to help with the building and the coding. Afterwards\, we will pit the sumo-bots against each other and we will declare a winner! \nParticipants are asked to please bring a snack \nMany thanks to the Elizabeth Kelly Foundation  & Lanark County for their generous financial support of this program.
