SUMMARY:Library After Dark with Jeremy Lyall
DESCRIPTION:Library After Dark returns to the Perth & District Library on Saturday November 9 with a night of music with accomplished local singer-songwriter Jeremy Lyall. \nLibrary After Dark is a special fundraising concert series held at the Perth & District Library\, and offers a chance for people who love music to see top notch artists in a unique\, alternative space. \n“After being hidden away for too long\, it’s time to let these songs of mine out into the light of day for Library After Dark\,” said Jeremy Lyall. “Along with fellow musicians Kalil Bailey and Isaac Matthews\, we’ve been cooking them up in the kitchen and look forward to playing them for you this November 9\, along with some selected covers\, at the Perth & District Library. These songs come of a youth growing up on an apple farm\, a career in film production\, and a life interested in what lies buried and hidden in us and in the world. They offer a lyrical glimpse of some of the things found\, felt\, and experienced along the way. The distinct musical voices of Kalil’s percussion and Isaac’s guitar have given them a groove and feel that has me very excited to announce our forthcoming album for the new year”.  \nDoors open at 7:00 pm and music starts at 7:30 pm\, so there is plenty of time to grab a bite at your favorite downtown restaurant before or after the show. You can also enjoy a beverage from the cash bar at the library during the show. \nTickets are $30 and available for purchase here in advance or at the door.

SUMMARY:Orange Shirt Day: Community Beading Workshop
DESCRIPTION:When Phyllis Webstad went to St. Joseph’s Residential School for the first time\, she took with her a shiny new orange shirt that her grandmother bought for her. That shirt was taken away and never returned. It has become a symbol of the Every Child Matters movement. On September 30th\, we remember and recognize the survivors of residential schools. The Perth & District Library is honoured to support this movement with a community beading workshop led by Shelley Bourgeois.\n\n\nParticipants will learn how to bead an orange shirt pin that they can wear in support of and to spread awareness of Orange Shirt Day. Please note\, the beaded pins take 2+ hours to complete.\n\nThis program is free and open to 14+. Materials are provided. Bring your own snacks. Bring reading glasses if needed!\nDonations are welcome to help cover the cost of supplies.\n\nPlease RSVP below.
