Each child is placed in a team with another participant and the duo compete against other teams to move to the Lanark Highlands Public Library\, Saturday November 8\, from 11am to 2pm\, 1pm – 4pm. The winners of the Perth & District Library Finals go on to compete against teams from Carleton Place\, Lanark Highlands\, Mississippi Mills\, and Smith Falls at the Lanark County Final (Saturday November 8\,from 11am to 2pm in Lanark) and win the trophy and prizes! \nAlthough a child registers for only ONE of the first rounds\, each child needs to be available to attend both finals – just in case! \nSpecial thanks to the Elizabeth Kelly Foundation and Lanark County for their amazing support.

SUMMARY:Teen Fridays with Safer Together
DESCRIPTION: This program is designed to be creative\, social\, and stress-free space for teens. These events offer a variety of activities\, including art-making\, improve theatre\, fibre arts\, and opportunities to meet other teens. They are held on Friday’s after school and aim to foster a sense of community and provide a platform for teens to explore their passions and interest. All are welcome. \nSafer Together is an advocacy-based volunteer group based in Lanark County\, Ontario supporting safety and inclusion for third spaces serving youth. Through youth programs\, parent-support groups\, training\, education\, and advocacy\, Safer Together forges connections between professionals across sectors to build greater capacity for equity\, diversity and inclusion for local spaces and programs that support the healthy social and emotional development of youth.

DESCRIPTION:When Phyllis Webstad went to St. Joseph’s Residential School for the first time\, she took with her a shiny new orange shirt that her grandmother bought for her. That shirt was taken away and never returned. It has become a symbol of the Every Child Matters movement. On September 30th\, we remember and recognize the survivors of residential schools. The Perth & District Library is honoured to support this movement with a community beading workshop led by Shelley Bourgeois.\n\n\nParticipants will learn how to bead an orange shirt pin that they can wear in support of and to spread awareness of Orange Shirt Day. Please note\, the beaded pins take 2+ hours to complete.\n\nThis program is free and open to 14+. Materials are provided. Bring your own snacks. Bring reading glasses if needed!\nDonations are welcome to help cover the cost of supplies.\n\nPlease RSVP below.
