SUMMARY:Orange Shirt Day Storytime
DESCRIPTION:When Phyllis Webstad went to St. Joseph’s Residential School for the first time\, she took with her a shiny new orange shirt that her grandmother bought for her. That shirt was taken away and never returned and has become a symbol of the Every Child Matters movement. On September 30th\, we remember and recognize the survivors of residential schools. The Perth & District Union Public Library is honoured to support this movement with a live Storytime in our garden. Francine Desjardins will share stories and songs that celebrate Indigenous culture.\nThe program will run for 1 hour and starts at 10:30 am. \nRegistration not required drop in!

SUMMARY:Teen Fridays with Safer Together
DESCRIPTION: This program is designed to be creative\, social\, and stress-free space for teens. These events offer a variety of activities\, including art-making\, improve theatre\, fibre arts\, and opportunities to meet other teens. They are held on Friday’s after school and aim to foster a sense of community and provide a platform for teens to explore their passions and interest. All are welcome. \nSafer Together is an advocacy-based volunteer group based in Lanark County\, Ontario supporting safety and inclusion for third spaces serving youth. Through youth programs\, parent-support groups\, training\, education\, and advocacy\, Safer Together forges connections between professionals across sectors to build greater capacity for equity\, diversity and inclusion for local spaces and programs that support the healthy social and emotional development of youth.
