Make our own Sock Puppet At-Risk Birds- Part 1

July 22 , 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Free

We will first look at how human tools and bird beaks do similar jobs. Birds have adapted to their climates and habitats, we see that reflected in their beaks, and also their feet and plumage. With this knowledge, each participant will choose a regional species of bird that are threatened. These birds will be the Horned Grebe, the Barn Owl, the Whippoorwill, the Evening Grossbeak, and the Northern Bob-white. Each child will receive a kit with the pieces to build their bird puppets. We will be working with hot glue guns, so if you are not confident that your child can work with one safely, you might want to join us for the workshop to assist them. Gloves will be provided. There is a maximum number of 10 participants for this workshop to make sure everyone’s project is successful.
