Poetry Moment: Reading and Conversation with Jean Van Loon

April 24, 2024 , 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

Join author Jean Van Loon for a reading from her poetry book Nuclear Family followed by questions and / or discussion. In Nuclear Family, which opens at the beginning of the nuclear age, violent events, both global and familial, permeate a girl’s coming of age in a story of cataclysm and, ultimately, recovery. Discussion may concern experiences of the atomic age and the cold war, or a family’s recovery from the trauma of a father’s suicide.

“The memoir is heartbreaking, the history sobering and the poetry that encases both is crafted with exquisite care.” ARC POETRY MAGAZINE.
