Local Immigration Partnership – Lanark & Renfrew is pleased to offer members of our communities a series of technology workshops throughout January, February and March thanks to our partnership with United Way East Ontario and partial funding received by the New Horizons for Seniors Program.
Thanks to this program and a newly formed connection with Ottawa-based organization, Connected Canadians, we are so excited to be offering 6 virtual workshops to any older adults looking to feel more confident using technology and overcoming technology challenges.
Connected Canadians is a registered charity founded in Ottawa 2018 which focuses on reducing isolation and loneliness among older adults by promoting digital literacy and inclusion through a customized, person-centered learning approach. Volunteers with high tech comfort levels are paired with senior clients to tackle technology challenges together.
The Perth & District Library will be screening the following interactive virtual workshop:
Safe Digital Communications – February 21, 1 pm
Learn how to connect your device to the Internet at home or in a public place safely, all while understanding how to identify whether websites you are accessing are secure. Even learn how to create your own hotspot to access the internet safely when wifi is not available.
