The library is planning to undertake improvements to the library’s outdoor space, including installation of new walkways, benches, trees, shrubs and gardens. Please see design package for the full project scope (Drawings L1, L2, Plant List and Plant Photos). Please note Drawing L1 was updated February 23, 2022 to include the square footage of the garden beds.

There are two phases outlined; the library plans to undertake “Phase One” in Spring 2022.

If you would like to submit a quotation to undertake this work as laid out in the design package, please submit the following:

  • a quotation for the full cost of the work outlined in the attached design package under “Phase One”
  • your expected availability to complete Phase One of the work,
  • up to two examples of similar work that you have completed, and
  • confirmation of Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage

via email to eheesen@perthunionlibrary.ca

Quotations must be submitted by March 9, 2022 at 5pm in order to be considered. Quotations will be reviewed by the Library’s Property Committee on March 14, 2022, and a final decision made by the Library Board on March 21, 2022.

Please submit all questions in writing to Erika Heesen, CEO/Chief Librarian,  eheesen@perthunionlibrary.ca, by March 1, 2022. Answers to all questions will be posted on the library website by March 4, 2022.

Questions:
[February 22, 2022] Does the plant list provided include plantings for both phases?
Yes, the plant list does include plantings for both phases. The drawings identify the plantings for Phase One versus Phase Two.

[March 4, 2022] Is there anything being done with the pavers in phase one? Do the three pads for the benches exist or not? Do the concrete pads for the bench/chairs mounting need to be installed as well?
Both pavers and pads for the benches/adirondack chairs do not currently exist and need to be installed along with the furniture. It is currently dirt and grass. There were two ash trees taken down on that side recently. The stumps have been ground down, but not fully removed. There is a section of existing pavers to be removed next to the Fire Hall.

[March 4, 2022] Do we need to supply the Adirondack chairs? Do we need to supply the “book hub”?
The Adirondack chairs need to be supplied. It would be nice if they matched our existing chairs in the garden, which were purchased from Canadian Tire.
The “book hub” is being built by the Perth Men’s Shed. It will need to be installed in a secure manner.

[March 4, 2022] Where will we be able to store interlock, aggregate, soil, etc?
You can use the staff parking area and the area of the walkway under the overhang next to the staff parking area. If there is not enough room there, you will need to coordinate with the Town and use the parking spaces on Herriott St.

[March 8, 2022] Is there a gas line?
Gas locates will need to be done. There is a gas line along the Herriott St. sidewalk.
